Since recently, all patients at the Cancer Centre receive a reusable water bottle, courtesy of the Gatineau Health Foundation.
In order to meet several needs in terms of oncology services, the Foundation has acquired television sets for the waiting rooms and furniture for the treatment rooms.
Information:
When they start their treatment, patients are given a lot of information, including how they are progressing, how to manage follow-up treatments and how to deal with side effects. All this information can sometimes be difficult to take in, given how stressful the situation is for patients and accompanying persons. To remedy this, the staff decided to purchase two television sets for the waiting rooms, which would then be used to display relevant information to users.
Furniture:
The treatment rooms needed additional furniture to allow patients to store their personal belongings, and to accommodate the staff’s procedure trays.
The purchase of this small equipment has allowed for more fluid and efficient oncology services.
In addition, the information displayed on the televisions has provided better communication to patients, reassuring them and helping them to better direct their questions to staff.
